Our union and fund offices are open to members for unscheduled appointments. We suggest wearing a mask when visiting our offices. Judge Ends Temporary Restraining Order on NYCDOE Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate
The NYC Municipal Labor Coalition, along with Local 237’s President, sued the City to stop a vaccine mandate that did not include health or religious exemptions. The Court lifted a temporary restraining order after the City included a process for exemptions. The judge will make a decision soon, but signaled that he will dismiss the suit on the ground that the public health outweighs individual rights.

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
This is a very difficult time for all Americans, but especially for those delivering vital public services on the front lines of the New York City pandemic crisis. The Governor, Mayor and Police Commissioner activated a protocol for all essential personnel to report to work. The vast majority of Local 237 members, working in the Citywide, Housing and Law Enforcement divisions, are the indispensable employees who will keep the City functioning during the COVID-19 emergency.
There will be no “business as usual” for the foreseeable future. During this emergency, Local 237 members are being asked to perform new duties.
Union And Fund Operations and Information
For the safety of our staff and members, union meetings will be held virtually and Local 237’s union and welfare fund offices are not open for unscheduled appointments. However, Local 237 will continue to provide strong union representation and benefits. Don't hesitate to call the union or funds or email your Business Agent with any questions or concerns.
